SUBOXONE
Suboxone is the first opioid medication approved under DATA 2000 for
the treatment of opioid dependence in an office-setting.
Suboxone is a sublingual tablet that contains buprenorphine
HCL as well as Naloxone HCL
dihydride. It is used
for the treatment of
opiate addictions
such as Vicodin, Oxycontin, Percocet, Demerol, codeine, heroin and
methadone.
Suboxone may only be prescribed by physicians who meet specified
qualifying requirements and most have written notification to the
Secretary of Health and Human Services of their intent to utilize
buprenorphine for the treatment of opioid dependence.
Awakening primarily uses Dr. Amit Vijapura, psychiatrist, our
medical Director, who has
the proper credentialing as described above.
Suboxone, at the proper dose, is used to
-
Suppress symptoms of opioid withdrawal
-
Decrease cravings for opioids
-
Block effects of other opioids
-
Help patients remain in treatment.
At Awakening, we offer an opiate program designed to minimize
any disruption to a client's daily routine by utilizing Suboxone
as an integral part of the treatment program.
Our goal is to work with the patient to help get them off of
opiates as well as developing a recovery program to help them return
to a normal and productive way of living.
