Treatment Options

Awakening Recovery Center offers several treatment options. All of our options are designed to meet the individual treatment needs of each client, while at the same time, accommodating his, or her, busy schedule. We provide options that will allow each client the opportunity to continue working and living at home with their family or significant other while receiving the highest quality of care.

Each individual will be assessed using a biopsychosocial assessment and the Addiction Severity Index (ASI). Obtained data will be examined in the context of the placement criteria developed by the American Society of Addictive Medicine (ASAM) and published as ASAM PPC-2R. Patient placement will be determined by closeness of fit to the published placement criteria. Obtained data will assist us in determining treatment options. The options are:

  • Outpatient Therapy
  • Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
  • Executive Program

Awakening fully understands that in treating alcohol or drug dependence, one size does not fit all. An individual treatment plan is developed together by the client and staff to ensure that each patient receives proper treatment.

Outpatient Therapy

This option is for patients who are assessed to meet the ASAM criteria for outpatient treatment. They will be provided individual counseling at least two times weekly and when indicated, attend one or more psychosocial group counseling sessions per week.  The sessions utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and cognitive restructuring methods. Persons in this treatment option will be those whose alcohol or drug use has begun to seriously affect their health or quality of life and they are ready to explore changing their lifestyle.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Awakening Intensive Program is for individuals who meet the ASAM criteria (Level 2) for IOP treatment. Individuals will be provided at least two individual counseling sessions weekly for the duration of the program-approximately 6-8 weeks. In addition, each person will be expected to attend cognitive-based group therapy three times per week during the 6-8 week time-frame. The IOP group is led by a PhD who is a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP) and has a personal relationship with the recovery process.

These group sessions utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, motivational enhancement therapy, education on the neurobiological imbalances created by addiction, introduction to the sober support systems AA and NA and others as well as emphasizing learning to deal with urges/cravings, a major part of learning relapse prevention. Based on the needs of the client, the weekly individual session may be used for individual and/or significant-other therapy. IOP is for those individuals who have had a major life or health crisis from substance abuse or who have had major problems with relapsing following attempts at sobriety.

Executive Programs

Public figures, health-care professionals, and others in the public eye may require special treatment plans. High-profile individuals such as corporate executives, government officials, and sports stars may require the utmost privacy. Our Confidential Executive Outpatient Program offers very private counseling sessions. Awakening recognizes that key employees are vital to your organization.
